The Semester

I still find myself wishing I were still in bed, wishing that all this were a dream. The cubicle that’s going to hug me for the nine hours, the monitors that are going to be my windows to the world, the TPS reports that signify my allegiance to servitude, all of it should be a dream.
This semester is going to be the toughest of my academic career. It is required that a student spends three hours outside of class doing work for every hour that he/she spends in class; the engineering discipline demands it, they say. This semester I think I’ll have to follow this rule, this possible axiom (it’s axiomatic). Hence, we calculate to see how much time I’ll have to myself during the next four months. I’ll spend approximately 35 hours in class, if I follow the aforementioned axiomatic rule I will have to spend 105 hours out of class doing work. That’s 140 hours dedicated to schoolwork for four months, or 10 hours of ‘pen and paper’ time per week.

Total hours in a week = 168

Hours per week = HPW
HPW job work = 40
HPW schoolwork = 10
HPW sports = 14
HPW sleeping = 56
HPW driving = 10
HPW eating, cooking = 12
HPW hanging with the girl = X (it fluctuates between 7-168) we will take 7 just to see what we get

THW – THPW =
168 – (40+10+14+56+10+12+7) =
168 – 149 = 19
19 hours per week to myself over the next four months, and that’s only if I spend minimum quality time. Well, come to think of it I only calculated for one of my two classes. Hmmm, you get the picture.
